The Bakersfield College Men’s Basketball team received West Hills Coalinga in their sixth game of the season at the Gil Bishop Sports Center, Nov. 27.

The renegades couldn’t start their season any better, they are 5-0 and are undefeated. Bakersfield College wanted to prolong their winning streak by hosting West Coaling Falcons, a team that seemed relatively easy. The game started slow offensively by both teams but as the game progressed the Renegades took control of the game and dominated the whole time making the game a cakewalk. Defensibly the gades were sharp and focused the whole game.

“Our defense was top-notch, it wins us the game. If we can play defense like that night in, night out, we have a chance,” Coach Rich Hughes said.

The game ended 75-44 in favor of the Renegades. Top scorers for Bakersfield College were Isayas Aris and Shannon Wafer who each dropped 18 points, Aris had six rebounds and one assist, Wafer three rebounds and three assists.

Even though the Basketball team still undefeated coach Hughes does not rely on their record and wants to keep working on some aspects in the team.

“We are early in the season, we have a great group that likes to play for each other. Things will be determined as we go, but I like our team and where we stand right now,” Hughes said. The Renegades will hit the road next when they face Potterville, Dec. 6.
