BC Renegades lose to West LA 80-64

Bakersfield College men’s basketball team suffered a 16-point loss at West LA Wednesday night with a final score of 80-64.

The Gades found themselves down 7 points early in the game. A layup from Forward Tony Counts put the Gades on the scoreboard starting an early 9-0 comeback, with help from teammates Tyrell Coleman and Joshua Lewis, the game was tied the game midway through the first quarter.

As the second quarter continued both teams were tied up until 4 minutes left when West LA took a 9-point lead to end the half.

According to BC head coach Arraon Chaves, “The team had too many one-on-one beats and had to control the rebounding.”

As the second half played out BC never really seemed to be able to climb back and found themselves down 15 points, 5 minutes into the third quarter.

The Gades were able to climb back and with  5 minutes left in the game. Guard Tyrell Coleman drilled a 3 pointer, cutting the lead to 3, but West LA took full control to end the game and took a commanding win 80-64.

The Gades were looking to bounce back Saturday vs LA Valley but the game was postponed.
