Bakersfield College’s football team fell short to the Cerritos College Falcons on Oct. 11, Homecoming night with the final score being 35-28 at the Memorial Stadium. Falcons started their first possession with a rushing touchdown and being the first team to put up points on the board with a score of 7-0, #2 quarterback, Carson Woods threw an interception on the Renegades second possession and the Falcons responded with another rushing touchdown giving them a 14-0 lead. The Falcons continued to gain their momentum on offense and leading the offense with an 85-yard drive and capping it off with an 11-yard rushing touchdown extending their lead to 21-0.

The Renegades on their last possession of the half, scored their first touchdown of the game with it being a forty-five-yard touchdown pass to #25 running back, Ian Jernigan and the first half ending with the Falcons leading 21-7. The Renegades were able to get two interceptions in the second half but were unable to capitalize on both possessions following the turnovers with one of the possessions ending in an interception by the Falcons running all the way to the Renegades five-yard line. This ending the drive off with a one-yard rushing touchdown extending the Falcons lead with a score of 28-7. Renegades got the ball back and capitalized the 87-yard drive with a 15 yard rushing touchdown by Jernigan making it a two-possession game and making the score 28-14. The Falcons on their next possession of the game kept driving down the field and ended their play with a forty-four-yard passing touchdown from #17 quarterback, Jeremiah Calvin to #9 wide receiver, Micheal Ashford, making it a three possession drive with the Falcons leading 35-14.
Fourth Quarter, the Renegades responded back with a one-yard touchdown pass making it a two possession game and making the score 35-21 with the Falcons leading. Coming down to the final minutes of the game, the Renegades once again gained the ball and led a eighty-eight-yard drive and capping it off with a two-yard rushing touchdown by #31 running back, Ja’Daniel Nettles with one minute and twenty-seven seconds left in the fourth quarter. the Renegades kicked an onside kick hoping to regain possession and potentially tie the game but ended up with the Falcons successfully recovering the onside kick and ending the game giving the Falcons the victory with the final score being 35-28. The Renegades record falls to (2-4) and are on the road next Saturday, Oct. 18 for a matchup against Fullerton College.
