On Saturday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m., BC’s women’s basketball team took a great win over Citrus College with a score of 78-54. Sophomores were celebrating their last home game of the season, before the game started.
The team consisted of sophomores (13) Rachel Green, (20) Carly Hayles, and (14) Diamond Brownlee as forwards for the team, along with the starting lineup (1) Danika Tolention, (3) Jamie Neaderbaomer, (4) Lailene Araniva, (5) Alexia Ramirez, and (14) Diamond Brownlee. On the court, BC was ready to take the win.
Once the game started (1) Tolention started off with scoring the first point for the 1st quarter and was willing to take any shot for her team’s victory.
As the game was playing out both teams were working hard on their offense and defense. Citrus was trying to make a comeback, but BC was taking the lead.
By the end of the 2nd quarter the score was 28-23 with BC getting ahead. Before the quarter ended, a player from Citrus, (32) Samantha Martinez would often foul multiple people.
When the new quarter started (5) Ramirez kept on getting fouled, which gave her a chance to make free throws.
By the end of the the 3rd quarter BC was taking a huge lead over Citrus and taking many chances to take as many shots as possible before each quarter ended.
As the 4th quarter began Citrus had tried getting the lead, but BC’s defense was stronger. They would often get the ball back and take the shot. (4) Araniva was one of the members who took the shot more by scoring three-point shots.
At the end of 4th quarter, BC squeezed the win out of Citrus College. It was a great win for sophomores to remember before they left.
