The BC Renegades fell 13-1 to Citrus College on March 10. Bakersfield College struggled to gain momentum from the first inning, as Citrus College quickly established control. Timely hitting and aggressive play allowed Citrus to build a sizable lead early, putting the Renegades in a difficult position for the rest of the game.
Despite the slow start, the Renegades continued to compete and looked for ways to respond. Citrus College’s pitching staff kept Bakersfield hitters off balance, preventing consistent contact and limiting scoring chances throughout the game.
The highlight for Bakersfield came in the fifth inning, when Luke Shaw, wearing No. 25, delivered a solo home run to put the Renegades on the board. The hit provided a brief spark of energy for the team and the dugout, highlighting their determination despite the score.
Defensively, the Renegades worked to hold Citrus College’s offense, but the early runs proved too much to overcome. Citrus kept their momentum through the later innings, adding runs and securing the win. Although the final score reflected a challenging loss, the Renegades showed persistence, continuing to play with effort and intensity until the final out.
The game highlighted areas for improvement while also proving the team’s resilience. Bakersfield College will look to regroup and carry that determination into its next matchup as the season continues.
